Chain Link Fencing According to Size and Applications:

Residential Chain Link: It is typically a lighter-grade material. It suits most home fencing applications because it provides a simple but effective barrier and property delineation. Typical residential fencing uses 12.5 gauge fabrics and 1 5/8″ diameter line posts with 1 3/8″ top rail. All posts are set in 24″ concrete footings for strength. A residential grade chain link fence typically comes in three heights: 4′, 5′, or 6′. However, it is no problem for us as an expert fence company, AllSteel Fence to use our fabrication shop to weld a custom height for you. We can also accommodate our more discerning buyers who want a heavier-duty welded frame gate.

Light Commercial Chain Link: The light commercial chain link is a better option for residential applications in harsher climates or for people with large dogs. We have a light commercial grade in which we use 11.5 gauge fence fabric compared to the 12.5 gauge residential grade fabric. We also use a more extensive diameter line post, 1 7/8″ with a .065 wall thickness, along with a more extensive top rail, 1 5/8″ x .065. This chain-link fence also has more galvanizing applied to the materials than the residential ones, increasing strength and longevity. You may ask us for this option on your estimate for a slight percentage cost increase.

Commercial Chain Link: The commercial chain link is slightly more robust fencing than the light commercial one. This type is highly recommended for standard commercial applications. We have a commercial grade in which we use 11 gauge fence fabric. We use a large diameter line post, 1 7/8″ with a .065 wall thickness, along with a more extensive top rail, 1 5/8″ x .065. The framework of this type of chain-linked fence can be changed by changing the wall thickness of the posts and top rail to a heavier schedule of 40 pipes.

This is usually added to the top of a newly-installed fence, but it can also be added to existing fences. 3 strands of heavy-duty class 3 galvanized barbed wire are installed to the top of the fence using 45-degree or vertical barbed arms, whichever is warranted.

Razor Ribbon: For security, the razor ribbon is added to the bottom or top of a chain-linked fence and installed in circular patterns. It comes in different sizes and gauges, and its razor-sharp edges are a strong deterrent for vandals.
